Inactive Computers for Active Directory is
Information Security Management software that will scan your Active Directory
Domain for inactive computer accounts, then move, disable or delete them.

system where Inactive
Computers for Active Directory
is executed
- Microsoft®
Directory
Services is required. All computers must be a
member of the same Active Directory Domain.
- Domain
Administrator rights to Active Directory is required.
Copy the executable (INACTIVE-COMPUTERS.EXE) to a dedicated folder on your
computer and launch it.
Inactive Computers for Active Directory (product) is licensed per
Systems Administrator. Please review the End User License Agreement for
details.
To register Inactive Computers for Active Directory, copy the file sent to you by
Absolute Dynamics to the same folder as INACTIVE-COMPUTERS.EXE. When the
executable is launched, the product will automatically be registered.

Inactive Computers for Active Directory is
very powerful. USE WITH CAUTION!
Disabling and/or deleting computer accounts will break domain logons from those
computers.
Usage Tip: Use this utility
to move computers to an empty container, then use Active Directory Users and
Computers to disable the computer accounts. Wait 2-4 weeks then delete the
accounts.
By default, Inactive Computers for
Active Directory will search all computers in the root of the current domain
that you are logged on.

Search Filter: You
can specify a computer name search filter in the first field
above. If you enter A, all computers beginning
with the letter A will be scanned. If you enter *A,
all computers containing the letter A will be
scanned. By default all computers are scanned.
Start Path: You
can also change the start path of the search by selecting a
container from the list. The selected container and
all sub-containers will be scanned for inactive computers.
Days Inactive: Enter
the number of days the computer has been inactive. By
default, Microsoft Windows XP/2000/2003 computers change
their password every 30 days.
Once you've
found the of list inactive computers based on your search criteria. You're
presented with the following options:

Remove Computer
from List: The
selected computer will be removed from the list. It is
not removed from Active Directory, just the list of
computers you are working with. It's a good idea to
carefully review the list and remove computers that you
don't want processed.
Ping Computer: Pings
the computer name and returns a success or failure.
Move Computers: Prompts
for a destination container. Moves all of the
computers in the list to the destination container.
Disable
Computers: Disables
all of the computer accounts in the list.
Enable Computers:
Enables all
of the computer accounts in the list.
Delete Computers:
Permanently
deletes all of the computer accounts in the list.
Once an action is
taken to Move, Disable, Enable or Delete, a status bar will
keep you updated with the progress. Once completed, a
HTML report is displayed with the results.
Inactive Computers for Active
Directory uses your existing
credentials when searching, modifying or administering
Active Directory objects or remote computers on the network.
To access other domains on your network, right click
inactive-computers.exe and perform a RunAs command against the
executable, then specify the proper domain credentials.
